My style is documentary wedding photography with an editorial touch. I want your photographs to feel honest, natural and timeless, capturing the people, atmosphere and moments that make your wedding yours.
I don't want you spending your wedding day constantly thinking about the camera. For much of the day, I'll be quietly observing and photographing things as they happen — the little interactions, the laughter, the emotion and all the moments you might otherwise miss.
There will be some direction when it's useful, particularly for portraits and group photographs, but I won't take over your day or keep you posing for hours. I want your photographs to look and feel like you, rather than following a particular trend or trying to recreate someone else's wedding.
As a Scotland wedding photographer, I photograph weddings in a relaxed, unobtrusive way, combining documentary photography with a considered editorial approach to create images that feel both natural and timeless.

Documentary wedding photography is about photographing your wedding as it naturally unfolds, rather than directing every moment or creating a series of staged photographs.
The aim is to capture the atmosphere, personalities and genuine moments of the day — the laughter, emotion, relationships and little interactions that happen between the bigger moments. I'm there to observe what's happening and photograph it honestly, without constantly interrupting or asking you to perform for the camera.
That doesn't mean I simply stand in the corner and never give you any direction. I'll step in when it's useful, particularly for family photographs and portraits, and I'll help you make the most of good light or a beautiful setting. But the majority of the day is about letting you enjoy it while I photograph what is actually happening.
For me, documentary wedding photography should still be beautiful and considered. I combine a documentary approach with an editorial eye for composition, light and detail, creating photographs that feel natural and genuine while still having a timeless, refined quality.
It's ultimately about telling the story of your wedding honestly — so when you look back at the photographs years from now, they take you straight back to how the day actually felt.

I’d recommend booking your wedding photographer around 12–18 months before your wedding, particularly if you’re getting married on a Saturday during the summer or at a popular Scottish wedding venue.
Some dates book further in advance, while others can still be available much closer to the wedding. It really depends on the date, venue and time of year. If you’re planning a wedding in Scotland and have your date confirmed, it’s always worth getting in touch to check availability rather than leaving it too late.
I photograph weddings throughout Scotland, from Glasgow and Edinburgh to the Highlands and further afield, so I only take on a limited number of weddings each year. This allows me to give each couple the time and attention they deserve, both before and after the wedding.
If you have a date in mind, get in touch and I’ll let you know if I’m available.

Yes. I offer 35mm film photography as an addition to my digital wedding photography.
I love the character and feel that film can bring to certain photographs — the grain, colour and slightly unpredictable nature of the process can give images a different quality from digital photography.
I don't shoot an entire wedding on film. Instead, I use 35mm film selectively alongside my digital cameras, choosing moments where I feel it adds something to the story.
The result is a combination of the consistency and flexibility of digital photography with some of the unique character of 35mm film.
If you'd like film photography included in your wedding, we can discuss this when planning your photography.

My wedding photography packages are designed to give you plenty of coverage without having to worry about watching the clock throughout the day. Full day coverage will include everything from the preparations and ceremony through to the speeches, first dance and celebrations in the evening.
All of my packages include professionally edited high-resolution images, delivered through a private online gallery. Albums, prints and additional photography coverage are also available.

For most weddings, I recommend full-day wedding photography which is around 8-10 hours. It means I can tell the complete story of your day, from the excitement of the preparations through to the atmosphere and celebrations in the evening.
Rather than concentrating your photography into a few hours, full-day coverage allows the photographs to develop naturally alongside the wedding itself. There is no need to rush from one part of the day to another simply because the photographer is leaving.
Shorter coverage can work well for smaller weddings, intimate celebrations and some elopements, so if you don't need full-day photography, I'm happy to discuss what would work best for you.
-
No — although I will give you some direction when it's useful.
The majority of your wedding photographs will be taken naturally as the day happens, without constantly stopping you or asking you to pose. For your couple photographs, I'll give you enough direction to help you feel comfortable and make the most of the location and light, but I don't want you standing in awkward poses for half an hour.
The aim is for your photographs to feel like you, rather than a collection of forced poses.
-
Yes. Engagement shoots are a good opportunity to get used to being photographed and to spend some time together before the wedding day.
-
We carry on.
I always keep an eye on the weather and, where possible, we'll use gaps in the rain to make the most of the outdoors. If the weather stays wet, there are usually plenty of opportunities for photographs indoors too.
I'm not going to spend your wedding day worrying about getting the perfect weather photograph. The priority is that you enjoy your day, while I make the best photographs possible from whatever conditions we're given.

A second photographer can be added to your wedding photography collection where appropriate.
For larger weddings, or where preparations are taking place in different locations, having a second photographer can be particularly useful. It allows more of the day to be covered simultaneously and gives you another perspective on the celebrations.
-
Yes. Family photographs are an important part of a wedding, particularly because they're often the photographs that become most meaningful over time.
I keep group photographs organised and efficient, with a sensible list agreed beforehand so we can get through them without taking over your day.
Once they're finished, we can get back to the photographs that happen naturally and, more importantly, your guests.
-
Usually, not as much as you might think.
I normally recommend allowing around 20–30 minutes for your main couple photographs, although this can vary depending on the location, light and what you want from your photographs.
I don't want to take you away from your wedding for an hour. The aim is to give you some time together, make some great photographs and then get you back to your guests.
I'll also photograph the two of you naturally throughout the rest of the day, so your couple photographs aren't limited to one scheduled session.
-
Yes. I think seeing a complete wedding gallery is one of the best ways to understand how a photographer actually works.
A portfolio can show you the very best individual photographs from many different weddings, but a full gallery gives you a much better idea of how a photographer tells the story of an entire wedding — from the preparations and ceremony through to the speeches, portraits and evening celebrations.
I'm always happy to show you examples of complete weddings that are relevant to the type of day you're planning.
-
Yes. Scotland is an incredible place for an elopement, and I photograph intimate weddings and elopements across the Highlands and further afield.
Whether you're planning an intimate ceremony in Glencoe, the Isle of Skye, the Highlands or somewhere completely off the beaten track, my approach remains the same — relaxed, unobtrusive and focused on capturing the experience as it happens.
If you're planning a Scottish elopement, I can also help you think through timings, locations and how to make the most of the light and surroundings.
-
Yes. I photograph weddings throughout Scotland, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, the Scottish Highlands and destinations further afield.
I've photographed weddings in a wide range of venues and settings, from city weddings and country houses to castles, private estates and remote Highland locations.
Travel up to 100 miles is included in the packages, with destination weddings and locations further afield available by arrangement.
-
Yes. While Scotland is where I photograph the majority of my weddings, I'm available for destination weddings elsewhere in the UK and internationally.
If you're planning a destination wedding, get in touch with your date, location and plans and I can put together a tailored quote.

Your finished wedding photographs will normally be delivered through a private online gallery within 8 weeks of your wedding.
I take time to carefully select and edit every photograph, rather than rushing the process. Your gallery will contain the finished high-resolution images, ready to download, share with family and enjoy.
I will deliver around 20 previews a few days after the wedding.
-
The exact number varies depending on the length of coverage but on average for a half day it is around 300+ and for full day around 600+
I don't believe in putting a number on your gallery simply to make a package sound better. My job is to tell the story of your wedding properly, including the big moments, the people, the atmosphere and all the smaller moments happening throughout the day.
Every image delivered has been carefully selected and professionally edited, so you receive a complete and considered collection rather than thousands of near-identical photographs.

The first step is simply to get in touch with your wedding date, venue and a little information about what you're planning.
I'll let you know whether I'm available and send over my current pricing and further information. If you'd like to go ahead, I'll then guide you through the booking process and we'll start planning the photography for your day.
I keep the process straightforward. There is no hard sell and no pressure to book before you're ready.
A £500 deposit is required to secure your date.
